Outer Carton Barcodes

For example, the EAN code 0799439079083 has a final check digit of 3. Ignoring this last digit, the last three digits of the barcode are 908. The corresponding ITF code (Interleaved 2 of 5) will also end in 908, with a check digit added at the end. Since the ITF code starts with the digit 1, its format is 1079943907908x (where x represents the check digit); in this example, the check digit is 0, so the final ITF code is 10799439079080.

ITF-14 barcodes are 14-digit codes used to identify shipping containers or outer cartons containing retail products. These barcodes are also known as Shipping Container Codes (SCC-14), Carton Codes, or GTIN-14 barcodes. When retailers receive goods into their warehouse, they scan the ITF-14 barcode on each shipping carton. This barcode indicates the quantity of items contained within each carton (e.g., 24 cans of baked beans), and the relevant information is synchronized with the retailer’s inventory management or logistics system to track warehouse stock. ITF-14 barcodes are typically generated from the barcode number of the retail product itself (EAN-13 or UPC number). A single EAN-13 or UPC number can generate up to 10 different ITF-14 barcodes.
If you require ITF-14 barcodes, please order below. Upon reaching the checkout page, enter your EAN-13 or UPC-A barcode numbers into the “Enter your barcode numbers here” text box. The system will automatically generate the ITF-14 carton code images based on the numbers provided and send them to you immediately via email.

    Instant Email Delivery Instructions: Once your order is submitted, your ITF-14 carton code images will be sent to your email immediately in three formats (.pdf, .svg, .png).
    Please enter your EAN-13 barcode number in the “Additional Information” section of the checkout page; this number will be used to generate the corresponding ITF-14 barcode (each EAN-13 number can generate up to 10 ITF-14 barcode images). This system is fully automated—if you provide a valid EAN-13 barcode number on the checkout page, the system will automatically generate the ITF-14 barcode and send it to your email within minutes.
    If you are purchasing an EAN-13 barcode at the same time as your ITF-14 barcode, simply enter “n/a” in the “Additional Information” section. The system will assign an EAN-13 barcode number to you and generate the ITF-14 carton code images based on that number.

How do ITF-14 carton codes correspond to EAN-13 barcodes?

A simple way to determine which carton code corresponds to which EAN barcode is to look at the EAN code digits:
  1. Ignore the last digit (the 13th digit), as this digit is the checksum for all other digits;
  2. Look at the last 3 digits of the EAN code—you will find that these 3 digits are the same as the last 3 digits of the corresponding ITF-14 carton code, with the only difference being that the ITF-14 carton code starts with an additional digit “1”.
